Hehehe... sorry, didn't get a chance to write yesterday. Just was pulling off about 100 pranks, mighta broken a record from Halloween. Gotta keep a book of it now.
But you have no idea how sturdy Junior's will is to laugh.
I saw him shaking the whole time, trying not to...
It was a new challenge; I couldn't resist, y'know? He looked like he had a good smile, too.
..Or maybe, it was that connection I felt.. eh. Motivation's motivation.

All through class, I kept trying to get his attention, get at LEAST a grin. I swear, he grinned ONCE. That's it. It's... mighty depressing. Felt kinda sad, and disappointed... Absolute taboo, I know, but I was! Nonetheless, I kept going.

I don't know what it is, though...
Is it that he thinks he's ugly or something?.. I think.. he's fairly.. uh... Ahem, 'ttractive. Shut up, journal. But, he always tries to look away, or hide himself. Is he scared of me?

Oh well. It changed all at lunch...
Made my first friend.
Well, the girls are my friends, but, they befriended me. I wanna befriend someone.
So, I went off to sit with them, but they'd gone missing...
And there Junior was.

He was alone, as usual... If it's the natural cycle, I don't care, I'll break it so he doesn't have to be.
"Uh... care for me to join you?"
Didn't care what he answered, really... I was gonna join him.
I couldn't help it, knew it was creepy, but... I'd been watching him all day...
Even now.
Never noticed how truly green those eyes were...

He actually looked back this time, kind of questioningly.
Defenses down...
I pulled off another one of my funny faces (I KNOW they work! They have to work now, right?)...

Diary, you haven't seen someone truly laugh 'til you've seen Junior laugh.
It was like, I just POPPED him. He was full of laughing air, and I popped it. Finally...
You couldn't help but laugh WITH him, both out of relief, and just because it WAS funny somehow.

Musta been what, 3 minutes 'til we finished? An orange tear had come up; I hadn't laughed that hard in a LONG time...
Obvious that he hadn't either, he almost looked surprised to have laughed so hard.

A-argh, I touched him, too... Couldn't help it. Took his chin, and stroked away Junior's tears from the laughter. Tingly feeling in my fingers as I did so, too, felt nice, though.
And you know?
He was smiling.
His teeth were all pointy, but, I thought it was kinda cool...
"I never thought I'd see you smile like that... or laugh."
I let him go, Junior looked somehow, flustered.
"You've got a nice smile, kid. Show it more often."

Junior almost looked shocked, but hopeful, when he asked,
"So, d-does that mean we're..."
What else would we be?
"Friends? Of course it does."
Can't help but smirk at him.

Remember when I said the girls, Vi, Andy, and Raggy (hehehe) had gone missing?
Well, they found us, just then.
I never heard a scarier, happy noise in my life, diary...
"OH MY GOD."
"THAT WAS ADORABLE! THINK YOU COULD DO IT AGAIN?!"
"Absolutely CUTE!"
We weren't too sure how to respond; although, I'm sure I felt Junior grow slightly warm.

Our conversation continued through lunch, and I wondered...
"Junior, I get the feeling you'll be my best friend.."
I do, diary.
I do get that feeling...

The last few days...
I never knew anything like them.
I never had a best friend before...
If this is what it's like...
I could get used to it...
Junior and I hang out every chance we get, it's great, really, I've never felt more giddy around a person...

He's usually got someone teasin' 'em. The bastards, what's so bad 'bout him? Seriously... these guys got prejudice issues.
But I know how to heal a let down spirit...
And even when he's happy, I think...
..I.. make him.. happier.
But it isn't all laughs for once.

He practically asked Junior on a date for lunch... but... the worst part... he KISSED the kid.
He put his grey-tinged, cigarette-biting lips to his pale cheek, and left.

The hell happened to me at that moment? Seriously, I..I never felt like that...
I just wanted to kill John.
For a second.
Understandable for wanting to protect your... FRIEND, right?

You have no idea how relieved I was to have Junior with ME for lunch. Hah.
He must have noticed something; the conversation wasn't so smooth today...
"Kid, we're still... friends, right?"
Junior smiled without hesitation, and nodded.

That was the best news I heard all day.
Maybe, John'll find a REAL dead rat in his bookbag tomorrow...
